Interesting coincidence. Just goes to prove that there's nothing new about conmen telling lies and making false promises.
Sadly there's nothing new about people falling for the lies either.

I think you are right about people LETTING themselves be conned. Take the easy way out. Don't both the look behind the curtain. Well, (s)he say they are an expert and knows everything.
