You'll notice I used the feminine, 'née'.
This came to me after I visited a French bookstore in New Hampshire, and I wanted to write it down, and figure out what it meant later.

I'm used to seeing that in connection to married names and maiden names.

Yeah. I didn't even think of that usage. It's French for 'born'. 'Née' is feminine, while 'né' is masculine. English society pages tend to use it in a narrow sense that I wasn't considering.
