...well, almost none.

Over the weekend and including today:
Tom Steyer
Pete Buttigieg
Amy Klobuchar

left the race, leaving:
Bernie Sanders (no, never, ever - go away)
Elizabeth Warren (no, never, ever - go away)
Mike Bloomberg - could be a viable choice
Joe Biden - a likely choice to go up against Trump

I guess we disagree, but then again, I'm a Canadian and socialism doesn't scare me much.

You need Bernie, with a side order of VP I guess that compliments him well.

But really, the US needs to get the 40% not voting part of the populace to vote.

Because the TRUTH is Trump was elected by like 31% of the 60% who DID vote, which means he was really only elected by 31% of the whole. He's screwing up the country on behalf of 31%. And he thinks he's doing a great job too.

Socialism doesn't scare me either - Sanders scares the shit outta me Exclamation
We have Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, a robust highway system that is virtually toll free, public schools K-12, public universities, colleges and community colleges...and any number of other things provided by our democratic government.

Smile I could comment, but, it's likely not needed, as I don't see the Dems getting their shit together, and Donald likely will sucker the same 31% of the US into electing him.

I'm too busy worried about Doug Ford though to have the needed time to worry about another country's stupidity, it seems we have enough of our own.

I always vote early, like last week, and I filled in the little circle for Amy.

Someone asked on a different forum if early voters regret voting for someone no longer in the race. I don't and I don't believe I wasted my vote.

My vote will still be counted and that is all that matters.

Well, two in fact..... the only ones 'in it' are Joe and Sanders.

But, worry not, you will get Joe! Miki, you'll get Joe!

I think Joe Biden could actually dislodge the Orange one, for I think that by November the world will be a different enough. The biggie is of course his Son and other stuff, ya don't go 74 years without a few skellytons in the cupboard.

But, I really think that faced with the ballot paper many Americans will see Joe as the safe bet! An intelligent choice of VP would be adviseable. For why, you may say? The Orange one chose a liability and still got elected? No, with an oldie and for some reason, more so with Democrats, they will have to have a goodun running with him for VP... Booker would be excellent, perfect and exactly right, or Klobuchar?

Anyway, it's up for grabs for Biden and if Boris has been too much in the background, busy doin' nothing 'bout the virus, yer man has been very vocal whilst being very busy doin' nothing, people don't forgive inaction!

Joe Biden in January 2021! You know I'm right!

Trump is already preparing his campaign against Biden's son, Hunter.

The best way to de-rail Trump's attack on the son is for Biden to bring up Trumps son Don, Jr. and his daughter Ivanka. There is a lot of baggage Trump can be forced to answer for.

I wonder what Trump's excuse will be for Ivanka's getting preferential treatment by China vis-a-vis trademarks and her husband's dealing with Russia regarding the financing of a boondoggle building in New York City obtained from the Russian oligarchs.

Well Miki, Hillary got more votes than Donald. Donald nailed her on most issues, then there was the doddery thing, then always there was the e-mails. And the public believed it. Joe is gonna have to be wary of it all and use top, top advisors as to how to deflect incoming bullets.

It's also about targeting.... we know travelling to every state did for Nixon in his first venture against Kennedy, boy was he whacked! He conceded all too soon as well! He'd do well to have his statisticians look at every close state and compute the numbers, then rally, rally, rally those, but not so much that he tires, for it DOES show. We saw the aforementioned doddery Hillary after her travels, we saw Nixon on the one to one debate after his silly all-state tour! '62 was it? Stay fresh and target, target, target!

Basic mistakes, I am amazed sometimes how the basics can be so easily overlooked in the race to become the most powerful person on God's Earth!!!!!

It's more usual that entire parties make mistakes over here than the leader losing the basics, though Boris is a new phenomenon who could change all that..... he makes horrendous blunders both at party and Prime Ministerial levels..... but he is not really that stupid, he is a very clever man. You have to use your own judgement on your American Blonde Boris, (see what I did there, turned it around, vice versa!).

But, you'll get Joe!!!! It's my new slogan until January!!!!! I might change it to 'Good 'ol Joe'!!!!!

When I was seeing a psychologist at the VA a couple of years ago she noticed my speech was slightly slurred and at a low volume. She had me tested for age related issues.

Shortened story: at 71 (then) and on a constant intake of NORCO (an opioid) I had slowed down. But my IQ was still in the Superior range which left me with some good news.

I think Biden and Sanders have the same age related issues - more so with Biden. I don't believe he will be able to pivot quickly enough during a debate or a press conference. I have little doubt he can handle to the job of POTUS, but he needs to choose a very strong VPOTUS. Staci Abrams would make a great choice. She is black, from the south (Georgia) and very, very sharp. She came close to winning the governorship of Georgia last election and likely did win if not for the GOP tinkering with the vote. (BTW: Abrams odds are 4-1 behind Pamela Harris at 5-2 and ahead of Klobuchar at 5-1!)

Oh, I was trying to look up 'Pamela Harris', then realised your liccle error!

I agree with your selection for quite a few reasons. There is a long way to go, and much can happen, I see you post the WP odds...

London goes similar:

5/2 Kamala Harris
4/1 Klobuchar
4/1 Abrams
Warren 9/1
Buttigieg 10/1

Here comes two silly ones, remember they took early money on these, it's why they are there!!!

Clinton 16/1
M. Obama 16/1

And then:

Castro, O'Rourke, Booker, Whitmar, Brown, Gabbard: all about 20/1

25/1 the field

First, I believe an African American such as Abrams will bring much to the table for Joe. On top of that, she is very popular with Democrat voters across the board and seems a capable candidate. Also, I believe it would be in Kamala Harris' interest to stay clear of the VP post in what is likely to be troubled times economically for the entire world.

For KH is a future President, very likely the first woman to be so, mark my words.....

So why we are at it, let's look at the potential Democratic POTUS nominee odds over here, ya gotta remember, the London bookies are unbiased and very sharp...

Biden 1/5 (put 5 on get 6 back) Almost certain!!!!
Sanders 4/1

And here is the most interesting odds: To win 2020 US election for POTUS:

Trump 8/11.... (put 11 on get 19 back)
Biden 13/8 ….. (put 8 on get 21 back) Wow, they think he just might win!!!!
Sanders 16/1.... (ok that will shorten should he become the nominee and that's very unlikely. But... he has no chance at all of winning the POTUS election if you Americans give him it!!!!).

Looks like Sanders days are numbered..... so on to the Senators and that!

Senate:
7/10 Republicans
Sorry it's 7/4 Democrats the Sanders factor....

HoR:
Democrat 4/9
Republicans 23/20

But....

Why would you want a Socialist as your leader?

Why would you want to legalise Marijuaniana ? It's a gateway drug!
Why would you want to end the war on drugs?
Why give unions more power to strike and bring the country down?
Why call improving the Nation impearilisism? I think the American Republic is no impearlislist.
Don't cut the military, the USA is relied upon by many small nations to stop China and Russian impearilisism!
Israel has a right to exist! It stands alone in the ME, it needs support! Saudi is an ally of the west, it needs support!

I don't know, just saying that I don't think Joe and Donald sing from the same hymn sheet! But good point Lesley, I do see some good things there, but there are too many bad ones!!!!

I have a socialist leader now. And life is better here. My dad even thinks moving to Canada would not be so bad.
Weed isn't a gateway to anything. Beer is more dangerous.
The war on drugs is a farce.
Unions are not the enemy.
Improving the nation? really? I have not seen any improvements.
I don't hate China or Russia any more than the US military.
I don't hate Israel, but if God can't protect them, they should perish eh.

I'm not saying Bernie is perfect, but if they re elect Donald, they deserve him.

Bernie's ideas won, even if he doesn't. It's a symbolic Bernie win regardless.

Yes, at least Lesley there is an increasing shift to the left in many Democrats. A counter-weight to the right shift of the Republicans?

This has happened to a lesser scale in the UK, certainly with the left..... though the Conservatives are quite moderate atm, though undoubtedly those with Corbynista goggles might disagree, they are taking the central ground and is why they swept to power.

Biden would be making a mistake if he shifted further left, Sanders or nay, for he must appeal to moderate Republicans....

The U.S. is moving towards to a center-left voter population and this is good.

Most people believe we need universal health coverage - just don't throw a bomb into what we have. Find a way to pay for it!

Most people believe higher education is too expensive - just don't throw a bomb into the system. Find a way to pay for it!

Most people believe money should not be the determinant in elections - just don't throw a bomb into the process. Find a way to pay for it!

Bernie Sanders is a bomb thrower. His ideas are good a first look, but how are we to pay for his ideas, Trillions of Dollars here a trillion of Dollars there and pretty soon you are talking about a lot of money.

(Everett Dirksen said a billion Dollars here a billion Dollars there...) Oh, how times have changed.

Yes I agree Miki! Why throw a bomb into the most successful nation in the history of mankind and thank God it is/was/will be again soon, (delete as applicable you Yanks), a democratic nation, one that settled it's foundation and government upon European values, Italy, England, Scandinavia and so forth. One we over here, for the most part, consider our beloved Cousin....

Anyway, a bit of editing there!!!! Biden's odds have shortened immensely!!! Both in the primaries and the Presidentials. ya shoulda listen to me!!!

Well, London bookies latest!!!

Primaries.....

Biden 1/25 (Yes, put 25 on.... get just 26 back total, win one!).

Brown?????????? … for some reason ya can only get 14/1???? Who????

Sanders 20/1 ….. no chance!!!!

Presidential:

Trump 1/1 …. yes evens..... driftin' driftin'....

Biden 15/13 ….. shortening, shortening... slowly, slowly catchee Monkey!!!

Sanders 50/1 ....Zero, nada, nil, zilch chance of ever sleeping at the big house that once burnt!

You can get Harris as VP at 2/1, Klobuchar and Abrams at 5/1 and Warren 11/1....

Thought I'd keep ya updated.... oh and 20/1 that Trump if he wins, announcing the existence of alien intelligence as a fact up 'til 2024! Those are short odds for such a whacky thing!!!!

Americans and taxes are a funny bunch.

They don't mind being fucked up the ass brazenly by the mega rich, and will get really uptight when someone says the mega rich should actually look after the nation.

Oh well, if you insist on letting the corporate world tell you to shut up and forget living wages, free health care and crushing student debt to name a few.

But I'm Canadian, and I like my free health care personally. And I couldn't give a flying fuck how ruthlessly the mega rich get taxed. Fuck em.

If it makes you feel better calling me a socialist, go for it.

Just keep in mind, I'm not scared about 'the virus' ruining my life in medical costs. What medical costs?

Oh, and the federal government is tabling a bill to tell the religious right to fuck off with their conversion therapy bullshit. Canada wide. It will be made illegal.

Yeah, I'm not having too much trouble being smug Smile
