no new.members. seldom old members....

I totally understand why there is a temporary hold on new admissions in order to protect the forum. That being said I miss how things used to be. Meeting new people at different points in their journey through life. Hearing from trusted friends who I've known here since I first had the courage to show up here ask questions and finally start my transition. It is my most sincere hope that my most favorite place where I know people understand and I'm not afraid to ask questions... We'll start going back to the way I remember. I know it will never go back to the way it used to be. I just hope very dearly that the spark, the joy and the love and support that I find here will begin to grow again. If it weren't for those of you who brought this place back... When I was on the older forum.... I wouldn't have had the strength or courage to start my transition. And not trying to be overly dramatic but making that change in my life is something that saved it and gave me new purpose and peace

Way back in the beginning, I found a place (Susan's). THAT place sucks in retrospect, but I found my first transgender contact. She is today still a great friend.

It also led me to find a worth in FB. Where I spend a lot of time chatting with a lot of transgender persons. If anything, FB is good in that you get to really meet the person.

I have learned, the HARD way, that most forums are so yesterday. I've tried ALL the visible transgender forums out there. Here is currently the only secure friendly one.

I'm today a veteran transgender woman. Been there, done it all, got several T-shirts.
Not much I haven't experienced.

I'm glad Celia made this place.
The occasional post is worth more to me than a steady stream anywhere else.
One new member in a blue moon is better than being inundated with accounts that come and go and no one realizes they are even gone.

Yeah I've heard a few things about Susan's. I'm starting to personally relate to the difficulties in keeping out spam hate trolls and other undesirable content. A Disney group I'm in on Facebook has like 170k members and only one admin and two mods. I volunteered because I figured it would give me something to do it would be nice for them but even with me I have to approve or deny well over 100 comments sometimes several hundred a day and sift through member requests that are just bought or spam or porn links. When I first got there the one admin had been AWOL for several months and the place was a total mess full of scams religious arguments or chain letters or just generally inappropriate content. The nature of this forum I can totally understand closing numbers off. Is it possible to refer a member?

Re. that is it possible to just set it up for mod approval of new members, like the io group I have (formerly a Yahoo group but they bailed). On a technical niche topic it also gets little traffic, but is of course just a message group.

Just a thought.

Old members do post very much now and then..... I use to post a lot when fully retired, but now I have a part time job which is quite a challenge at my age, though I am fit and was told I have the fitness of a forty year old, my stamina and general strength is very low. I get very tired by the end of my three shifts per week and don't feel like hopping on to the laptop.

The loss of Maria, for why I know not.... I cannot access my virgin media e-mail, they deleted it after the 6 month leaving period was up, I think.... so I have lost contact with her. But we all noticed.

Anyway, I was soon wise to that place Bunny mentions, after a short perusal. I decided not to join, for I have better things to write of than the colour of my underwear....

You mean Susan's House of Corrections.....?

Yeah not a fan either (banned 4 times), Catty to an extreme and about as considerate of other people's situations as a landmine.

Yep, I once offered to help financially support the site. Nope, they will even bite the hand that feeds them.

Sad that some of my worst moments online were from transgender women. We like to talk about how rotten the TERFs and cis heteros can be, but ya know, I've never even met a nasty TERF or cis hetero in person.

I have encountered a few nasty TERF's but that was as a guy back in 03 in the Uk, quite Loathsome hate filled people imho, sad more than anything.
