Hmmm Susan's plight

Soooo I got an email from Susan's place, seems they are in dire straights for cash.

Well, you'd likely think "why should I even care?" and it's not exactly an inaccurate assumption.

But in a moment of personal insanity, I decided to take a peek over there. And it does kinda look like they are in a pinch. I even made the effort to create an account. Because I can't even recall what name I used once upon a time.

The thing is, I made the account 2 days ago. And no reply. WTH?

In the meanwhile, my logic center is trying to decide if I even still care

The more online resources we have, the better, but, respectfully, when isn't Susan's not in dire need of funding? I hope your account gets approved if it already hasn't, but I think it's fine if you can't donate. You tried and in this instance it's the thought that counts.

Am thinking about opening up, for new members that is. I shall trial one week and see... what do you think, should l announce it? What do others here think?

Personally, I think it's a great idea! Particularly if you can implement a bot security measure.

I think the challenge, however, is finding new members.

The trick to marketing our little space is targeting.

You want to attract transgender persons.

You do NOT want to attract people who are not transgender first, and some form of sexuality as their main thing.

Because ALL people have some form of sexuality but, not all people are transgender.

I'm here because I'm transgender. In my daily life, I don't really talk about my sex life.

It would be nice to have more members. But I suppose you might add stipulations as to the character of this forum. As Lesley says this is for transgender people but on the other hand we can't be too precious about it.

This is a bit of a private club but even private clubs need new members.

Well what sucks is if it gets spammed by all the usual suspects. But the new site seems to have a hard time attaining lift off (see here, I'm still mourning the loss of the old site, which says something) and there is no magic "traffic" button I'm aware of.

This is happening to a lot of forums, the exceptions being the ones that attract people with a vital interest in the chosen topics, it seems to me, and with an easy route to locating them.

So if I were me and I didn't know about THIS site, how would I find it? Google search? Filter out weirdness that I'm not at all interested in?

Do I want to go to Reddit? Not really unless the rest of the internet is somehow broken.

No. I just want to discuss the stuff of life that happens...

So I'm starting a new post in Transition as an update to do that.

Did I find this site with that search? No. Which could be sort of "There's yer problem!" thing.

I would like to see membership opened up again, though with guardrails of some sort.

Hi Marci,

The problem is, there are no guard rails. But, it takes me seconds to delete an account, which takes 100 times longer to set up.

I cannot be here 24/7... but as l have decided to open up, l shall be watching closely the next few days. One week is the aim. Should anything arrive unwanted, last time it was blanket porn, the doors will be closed again. I may report any wifi outlet posting/unwanted contact to forumotion to have it barred.... beyond that, l am open to suggestions of any other actions l can take, i.e. US/other nations porn law/vpns/filters etc.

Not expecting a deluge of new members. It is, as you write, a backwater.... but, the wealth of experience on offer here is an opportunity that should be there for others, along with the maturity of input here too for wizzened type new members also... hold the bus... did l just write that last piece? With fun too, l hasten to add!!!

Yes, go to profile.... click 'profile', it is at the top of this page, beneath The Transgender Times banner ... on new screen, top line has your name... simply delete, put name in and then make sure to click 'save' at bottom of profile page...

....all your posts, avatar and settings remain the same... only your username will change..

... but l think if it has been used before you cannot without a little change, like 'Lisa B' or something...
