Happy Father's Day 2018

To be clear, I'm not celebrating male parents.

I'm celebrating Fathers. Real men.

Because any male idiot with sperm can become a parent, but only real men can be fathers.

So, even a FTM transgender man can be a father.

Because fatherhood is not a biological result.
You're thinking of parenthood if you're thinking sperm source.

If you adopt a child, you can be their father if you do it right.
If you play the part, you can be the father.
So 'father' is a label that is earned.

It's like 'respect' it isn't free.
You don't get the label 'father' just because you grunted and sighed and ejaculated your sperm into a female's reproductive organs successfully.

Done correctly, even the most confused, uncertain, non-binary person can be a 'father' if they pick up the mantle and do it genuinely.

The above of course holds true for 'mother's'. You ain't a 'mom' just because you gave birth.
Nope, 9 months of discomfort, and risk and concluding in a birth doesn't entitle you to the title.
You will have worked harder than the male did of course. But, so what.

Mother is a label earned. Just like Father is a proud status.

I am full-time as a woman for over a decade now, but it still makes me so proud when my daughter calls me "Daddy."

My son is ok calling me mom. I don't mind him calling me dad.

Just had a chat with him actually, about asking his girlfriend if she would mind her 3 year old daughter calling me granny

No one in my household calls me anything but Dad, but then I am lucky I get that much response.
