My Family Heartache Empty My Family Heartache

Post  Elizabeth Lynn Fri Oct 18, 2019 6:07 pm

Hi all,

I've been absent for a couple of weeks.  My wife was newly diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  It's been a shock to me and my entire family and her very large circle of friends.

She's had her first dose of chemo, has had several complications that have taxed her in the extreme.

None the less, it appears that she is responding to the chemo based on improvement of some of the initial symptoms.

Hold on to your loved ones.  Time is precious.

Liz

I am so sorry to hear about the health challenge you and your wife are experiencing. Metaphorically: walk behind your wife so if she stumbles you are there to catch her.

I have to say it's something I worry about. I love my wife very much although I'm not sure if she shares that view anymore.
My other worry is that something happens to me while my boys are young. I'm sixty in December. They're ten and twelve.

I have a big circle of family and friends, so far none have had any health issues.

But it's a ticking time bomb.

So I really feel for you.

Hi Liz,

I am very sorry about your dear wife's condition. The cursed C is a blight upon us, the day it is beaten, with preventative cure too, cannot come soon enough. I am glad she has improved a little, the first treatment is always the hardest. I wish her well and hope she comes through the treatments with news of the all clear as soon as possible.

It’s been some time since I updated this topic. After many different treatments, we have come to the end point. Lynn’s latest PET scan reveals the cancer to be spreading unabated by the latest treatment approach. Any remaining modalities offer very little chance of success, and a great deal of risk for significant side effects/complications. After discussing the various options, Lynn decided to stop further treatment and enter into hospice care.

I am beyond broken hearted.

I hope the remaining time you have with your Friend, your Partner, your Wife is spent remembering better times and that the time She has left is lucid, without anger and pain free.

Early this morning at 0245 MDT, my wife lost her battle with cancer. I am lost right now. But for the necessary tasks of making arrangements, I don't think I could get out of bed today..

I am numb and with little to say to help you ease your pain.

You letting our little group share in your loss means a lot to me and I suspect others here.

Be at peace, Liz and let us know if we can be of any support for you as you try to find a path for the rest of your life.
